Volunteer Work

Help the Iguana center and Turtle camp

Iguanario Barra Navidad and Red de Humedales

This is for volunteers who like to be in the nature and are not afraid of any reptiles.

Description

Protection and Conservation of reptiles. The Iguanario center is a small private organization located about 10 min. outside from Puerto Escondido.

It is a public institution open from 7am to 7 pm with the goal to capture and help any injured animal and to reproduce the iguanas, crocodiles and other animals that are staying at the iguanarium.

For visitors tours are being organized, to see the following animals: carnivorous and vegetarian iguanas, crocodiles, snakes, geese, land turtles, chickens and birds. It looks like a simple and small farm.

The turtle camp where volunteers can go for one night could be in different beaches depending on the season and availability. The nearest turtle camp is in La Punta area near our surf camp and the other one is about 15 minutes out of Puerto Escondido.

These camps are responsible for saving turtle eggs as much as they can by going out at night doing patrols by walk or by quad.

Once the volunteers find turtle eggs, they transport them and save them in one special reserve.
